About color

Your visit

An hour that is entirely yours

No rush, no hard sell, no talking you into bangs. This is how a visit goes.

  1. A stylist rests a hand on a client’s hair beside a cup of tea and a ring of color swatches.

A chat and a cup of tea

We sit down together, look at your hair in daylight and talk through what you love, what you don’t and how much time you give it in the mornings.

  2. A woman leans back at a cream basin, eyes closed, while her hair is washed.

    A slow wash

Warm water, a gentle scalp massage and a treatment chosen for your hair. Most people say this is their favorite part.

  3. A stylist sections damp hair with a fine comb and scissors.

    The cut or color

Your stylist works in natural light and explains as they go, so you know how to recreate it at home.

  4. A woman runs her fingers through freshly styled soft waves in the sunlight.

    A soft finish

We style it the way you will wear it, show you the two products worth having, and book your next visit only if you want to.

Notes from the chair

What people say on the way out

  • The first salon where nobody tried to talk me into something. Maya listened, painted the softest honey and it still looks good three months later.

  • I came in with a box-dye disaster and left with my own color back. Patient, kind and honest about how many visits it would take.

  • Ellie cut my curls dry, curl by curl. For the first time in years they sit the way they want to.

  • June did my wedding hair and my mom’s. Nothing moved all day and we both cried at the mirror.

Little notes on looking after it

  • A wooden round brush, hair clips in a ceramic dish and a sprig of eucalyptus on cream linen.

    Heat without the damage

Three small habits that keep blow-dried and curled hair soft, from the people who blow-dry for a living.

  • Hands gently towel-drying long hair with a soft cream waffle towel.

    Washing less, gently

How to stretch the days between washes without feeling flat, and why your scalp will thank you.

  • A fan of hair color swatches from pale blonde through honey, rose and copper to chestnut, beside a cup of tea.
